Karis has prioritized optimizing data, systems, and processes in response to employee feedback, aiming to save time and improve service delivery. Central to this effort is the adoption of an agile approach, which emphasizes working in small, focused sprints, gathering frequent feedback, and remaining flexible to adjust plans as needed. Collaboration is key, with delivery teams and operational groups working alongside end users such as DSPs and PMs to make sure that we get things right.

In March 2025, an Agile Working Group was formed to guide these improvements. This cross-functional team— made up of employees from various districts and service types—reviews feedback, sets priorities, and monitors progress. The group’s work is split into two streams: items handled by existing teams and more complex processes requiring new delivery teams. By September 30, 2025, four such teams were established (two for AlayaCare, one for UKG, one for Microsoft 365) and to-date, alongside existing teams, over half of the priority items are either underway or completed including:

  • Improved Passport/Fee-for-service expense views to show more useful data for DSPs and PMs
  • Enabled clear differentiation between fee-for-service and ministry-funded individuals by syncing client tags from AlayaCare
  • Identified specific TAMs items for fee-for-service clients to prevent unnecessary data tracking
  • Optimizing scheduling and support documentation in AlayaCare
  • Improving schedule view in UKG
  • And many more!

What’s next?

Delivery teams will continue their work alongside operations representatives and implementation strategies will be developed as optimized processes are delivered. More updates will be shared soon!
