The Developmental Services Workforce Initiative (DSWI), in partnership with Queen’s University, is conducting a province-wide survey to better understand the current state and future needs of Ontario’s developmental services workforce.

This is a unique opportunity for our team to contribute to a study that will influence how developmental services are understood, supported, and improved across Ontario.

By participating, you’ll help ensure that the experiences and insights of Karis staff are part of the conversation and reflected in the results.

What You Need to Know Before Participating

Participation in the survey is completely voluntary, and you may choose not to participate or stop at any time. If you do participate, you’ll be helping to build a clearer picture of workforce trends, job satisfaction, training needs, and emerging skills.

Before you begin, here’s what you should know:

  • Purpose: The survey gathers insights into work and career experiences across the developmental services sector.
  • Process: It takes about 10–12 minutes to complete and includes questions about your role, satisfaction, and skills.
  • Privacy: Your personal information will be collected and stored securely, in line with Queen’s University’s ethics guidelines. The surveys will not ask for any personally identifying information.
  • Use of Data: Responses will be compiled and analyzed by Queen’s University researchers. If enough Karis staff participate, a customized report will be created for our organization.
  • Results: Agencies can request a summary of the findings once the study is complete.
  • Support: If you have questions or concerns, contact the Principal Investigator, Robert Hickey, at hickeyr@queensu.ca or 613-533-6485.

Bonus: You Could Win a Tim Horton’s Gift Card!

Everyone who completes the survey can enter a draw to win a $20 Tim Horton’s gift card. One prize will be awarded for every 100 completed surveys.
