This week, I heard of a great quote from Ann Voskamp shared by one of our leaders: “This is what I know about hard times: the way through is to help someone else find the way through.” Upon reflection, I think the quote is a real testimony of the work you do each day to help people be safe and healthy. Thank you for your continued vigilance as the number of COVID-19 cases continues to increase across Canada.

As of yesterday, Christian Horizons has five (5) people using our services and eleven (11) employees who are currently positive for COVID-19 in six (6) Ontario communities. We have no active cases in Saskatchewan.

Christian Horizons Global

Globally, just this week we learned about a horrible tragedy in Ethiopia. While it isn’t in a community where Christian Horizons Global works, it will no doubt have an impact. We hope and pray that further violence can be averted.

Amid all these things, we’re seeing the goodness of people coming through. In Guatemala, they held their graduation ceremonies over a full day with two families at a time so that each child could be honoured even in the midst of the crisis. Within Christian Horizons in Canada, many employees have made themselves available to be redeployed to work at other locations in their communities, and others are working in different communities altogether. In the broader community, local Public Health offices are working closely with us as we navigate testing and outbreaks.

We’re learning to live and work in this new reality of COVID-19. Washing our hands, wearing masks, and keeping a distance has become our new standard. Please continue being diligent. We’ll get through COVID-19 together, and one day it’ll be a memory (hopefully soon!).

Please remember, our resources page is updated regularly and available at https://covid19.chconnect.org/. I remain available at dmilley@christian-horizons.org.

Stay safe,

Dwayne Milley
