Yesterday we observed Remembrance Day and were reminded that on November 11, 1918, more than 100 years ago, the first world war ended. Millions of soldiers were lost, around 60,000 of whom were Canadian. Now, on November 11 every year, we pause to remember, to mourn for those who perished in that war and in the wars since.

We remember.

As of yesterday, Christian Horizons has six (6) people using our services and fifteen (15) employees who are currently positive for COVID-19 in six (6) Ontario communities. We have no active cases in Saskatchewan.

Global

Globally, our teams in Central America are recovering from hurricane Eta. In Ethiopia, violence persists in the northern part of the country. Our teams and people in the communities where we work are safe and stable, but these situations have put everyone on edge as they all feel for their fellow citizens.

This weekend we learned that we’re much closer to a vaccine for COVID-19. This gives us hope, but we’re not out of the woods yet. Please remember to wash your hands, wear masks, and keep a safe distance. If you haven’t yet gotten a flu shot, there are clinics available, some of which are being offered in partnership with Christian Horizons.

Please remember, our resources page is updated regularly and available at https://covid19.chconnect.org/. I remain available at dmilley@christian-horizons.org.

Stay safe,
