Summer is here. I’m happy to see COVID-19 cases continue to decrease across Canada, and more and more people are receiving their first and second doses. Last week, I was able to get my second dose, which is a big relief for me, because around this time last year I was in quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19.

As of yesterday, Christian Horizons has one (1) person who uses our services and one (1) employee, who is currently positive for COVID-19 in one (1) Ontario community and one (1) Saskatchewan community.

It has been so encouraging to see the letters and photos as we prepare our Annual Progress Reports for Child Sponsors. Unfortunately, the reality of the disruption of COVID-19 is still front and centre. This past school year has been so disrupted. Students in Guatemala have all lost a year. While we have continued to provide worksheets to sponsored students, home/online learning has been a real challenge for a country with no reliable internet in many communities. This is another reminder of how good we have it here at home while the most vulnerable struggle.
