Raffle Winners: September 2, 2021 Update

In our webinar last Friday, we were excited to host our first vaccine celebration raffle for those who have shared their vaccination status, and together celebrated the impact of vaccines on the pandemic. Names were drawn using a random name picker (Wheel of Names) and we had a great time. Congratulations to all the following winners! We have shared photos of a few winners to celebrate their wins.

Our Fall Vaccination Raffle will be held on Friday, October 29, 2021. More details to follow in the coming months.

Note: The number of winners listed above is based on the maximum number of employee entries for that group (one prize was drawn for every 100 submissions). For more information about eligibility, exemptions, logistics, prizes, and fall raffle, see the update from August 19 below.

Raffle Details: August 19, 2021 Update

Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve shared updates to get us ready for next week’s raffle. This week, I’m including many details about the raffle, from eligibility to the prizes, and more! Please read it all by clicking the title of each tab in the table below, and then if you have any questions, email me directly at dmilley@christian-horizons.org.

Click the title of each tab below to read more about the eligibility, exemptions, logistics, prizes, and fall raffle!

First, given the threat of the current Delta variant of COVID-19, I consider the vaccination to be prize enough (which, for me, has to be enough because I’m not eligible for the draw!). This raffle is a way for us to add a little more excitement to our celebration. Anyone who has submitted receipt of their second shot using the online system (forms.chconnect.org/vaccine_login) is entered into the draw automatically. Individuals with a substantiated accommodation need based on a Human Rights protected ground are also eligible once you’ve submitted the appropriate documentation (as mentioned here), you are entered into the draw automatically.

If you’ve submitted the above information, we’ve got it! You don’t need to submit it again. Thank you so much for being so diligent!!

Members of the Organizational Leadership Team, while all vaccinated, will not be eligible to win a prize in these raffles. This group is the Directors, Executive Directors, the Vice Presidents, Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and the Chief Executive Officer. It’s too bad because when Margaret Bain and I tested the tool, my name was the winner =(.

If you are eligible but you wish not to participate in the raffle, we can accommodate that request. Please email me your request directly by Wednesday, August 25 at noon, and please include your full name and employee number.

The raffles are divided into eight (8) groups: each of the seven districts and one group for shared services (primarily, employees that serve at the Waterloo office and other select district roles). Initially, we planned to break into eight (8) separate groups in the webinar to do these draws. That plan has been revised as we’ve decided to do all the draws at the large webinar – this is a celebration, and like any party, the more the merrier!! That said, beginning at around 2:30 pm, we’ll do the draws, by group, alphabetically: Central, Central East, East, North, Saskatchewan, Shared Services, South, and West.

We’re going to use a website – Wheel of Names – to have random draws for each group.

We’re having one prize for every 100 submissions for the raffles, and we’ll round up to the next 100 from 25. For example, if 124 people or less are in the raffle, one prize will be given; if 125 or more (up to 224) are in the raffle, we’ll draw for two prizes. The number of prizes listed below is based on the maximum number of employee entries for that group.

Before you get to the prize list, please know that they vary per community/group, and, except for the week off in several groups, they are valued at around $500. Per Canada Revenue Agency, prizes are a taxable benefit and will be reflected on T4s at the end of the year.

The week after the raffle, we’ll share a list of the winners in On the Horizon!

If you’ve been unable thus far to receive your vaccination, or if you’ve been waiting to do it later, we’ll have another raffle in the Fall on Friday, October 29, 2021. We’ll give more details as we prepare them in the coming months.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Please, as I noted above, if you have any questions or if you wish not to be included in next week’s raffle, email me by Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at noon.

Thank you,

Dwayne
