The Monthly Workplace Inspection form in AlayaCare has been updated and will be released on May 1, 2026 (previously and incorrectly dated as April 10 in OTH.) This change reflects our ongoing commitment to ensuring that the health and safety of our employees and the people we serve remains our number one priority. The enhanced form helps us better identify, track, and resolve health and safety concerns, strengthening our overall safety practices across all locations.
As part of our F2026 Operating Plan, we reviewed health and safety concerns across the organization, including two years of AlayaCare inspection reports. Through this work, we confirmed that issues were being addressed, but we also identified the need for a more consistent and transparent way to follow up on items raised during inspections. The updated form is a direct response to this finding and supports our broader goal of strengthening how we respond to employee feedback and health and safety risks.
The new form includes additional response options and fields to improve clarity and accountability. “Not applicable” can now be selected when an item does not apply to a location (for example, if there is no mobile equipment), and “acceptable with recommendation” allows you to distinguish between items that are not acceptable and items that are acceptable but would benefit from an improvement. The form also includes dedicated fields for action to be taken, action assigned to, date action to be completed, date action was completed, action taken, and cost, helping ensure that every concern has a clear owner and timeline.
To further strengthen our health and safety practices, the form now includes a field for the date of the most recent fire drill and a Risk level dropdown for any item marked as not acceptable. This helps teams prioritize higher‑risk issues quickly and allocate resources where they are needed most. Together, these enhancements provide a more robust, auditable record of the steps taken to keep our workplaces safe for staff, service users, families, and visitors.
Training on the updated Monthly Workplace Inspection form was conducted with Workplace Relations Specialists and Service Standards Managers on March 16, 2026. Following additional revisions to the form, a second training session is scheduled for April 9, 2026. The training will subsequently be rolled out to all Health and Safety Representatives, OHC/Joint Health and Safety Committee members, Health and Safety Representatives, and supervisors. Your Workplace Relations Representative will connect with you to schedule a session and walk through the changes, answer questions, and support you in using the form effectively. Thank you for your continued commitment to health and safety and for helping to ensure that everyone at Karis—and everyone we serve—can count on safe, well‑maintained workplaces every day.
