Most people know that stress is something to reduce or avoid, but it may be surprising to learn how much it can affect our overall health and well-being. It’s especially true for people who are living with metabolic diseases like diabetes.

Also, being aware of the interplay and relationships between stress, nutrition, diabetes, and mental health can help you identify some early warning signs that require you to monitor your diabetic status, such as increased hunger and frequent infections.

At our Employee & Family Assistance Program’s (EFAP) website, Homewood Health – Homeweb.ca, you can find an article and a podcast with some tips to help you think about how stress might affect how your body processes glucose and determine how to reduce stress overall for better health. For easy access, please use the following links.

Keep in mind that Homewood Health is a confidential service that provides various supports and resources, including articles, podcasts and short-term counselling.

If it’s your first time accessing Homewood Portal, you can open this document (VPN required) to see the step-by-step enrollment instructions and the invitation code.

Should you have any challenges enrolling, you can call Homewood Health directly at 1-800-663-1142, or you can contact benefitinquiries@karis.org.
