Retirement Announcement

 

On behalf of Janet Noel-Annable and myself, please accept this news about Jackie Monforton’s retirement announcement.

 

Jackie serves as the Executive Director in the East District of Christian Horizons (the Ottawa and Kingston communities). Hired in 1985, Jackie started when there were just a handful of support locations in Ontario. Jackie’s entire career with Christian Horizons has been based in the Ottawa and Kingston area where she generously gave of herself to these communities, to the people she has worked alongside, and to the organization. Jackie has served in many capacities and roles over the years and has both been witness and leader as institutions have closed, as people have grown, and as the sector has changed. 

 

Jackie will end her role as Executive Director on January 31, 2024. Then, she’ll help us with some projects until June 30, 2024.   

 

This is a big change for Christian Horizons. Jackie is one of seven Executive Directors, almost all of whom have been with Christian Horizons for three decades. Like so many across our sector, Jackie’s contribution to developmental services has informed massive shifts in how we approach supports, in legislative changes, and in helping us move closer to creating and being part of communities where everybody belongs.

 

Jackie’s optimism and joy are infectious and are just small parts of what we’ll miss. Her love and energy for Family Camp is unmatched – you wouldn’t be with her for very long before she brought up Family Camp.
