Reflection

Find the May 2024 Reflection attached below!

As we reflect on our service principles – in particular, promoting citizenship – I’m pleased to share two ways citizenship is expressed and experienced in Durham, Ontario, both at a community level and by someone who uses our services directly.

Our description of this service principle says, “We recognize that people with disabilities are at risk of not benefitting fully from the responsibilities and privileges of citizenship” (Policy A.2.6). In other words, people who use Karis Disability Services are at risk of not experiencing belonging as citizens, which includes sharing their gifts with their community (responsibilities) and benefitting from the privileges or gifts that come with full citizenship (its rewards!).

Prayer Guide

The May Prayer Guide invites you to consider various instances of “grace” and “gift” in the Bible, as we celebrate our new name. We give thanks and pray for the needs of our work in Canada and around the world.
