Supervisors Now Manage a Reasonable Number of Employees
Through our Onward strategic plan, we’re equipping leaders with the time and resources they need to coach and lead their teams in providing services consistent with our values, vision, and mission.
As part of that, we want to make sure that managers supervise a reasonable number of employees, so they have time to lead and coach their teams well. Over the last two years, the Positive and Effective Leadership Onward team investigated and implemented a maximum number of employees that managers should supervise. That number was 30.
Across the organization, teams have worked together to make this improvement. In 2017, 52% of Program Managers had 30 or fewer employees; by 2019 that had improved to 74%. And now in 2022, 98% of Program Managers and Team Leaders have 30 or fewer employees.
