April 28, 2022
In early June 2022, Ontario will once again head to the polls to vote our next Premier and government. While we still do not know the exact date, Elections Ontario has updated a lot of information to help us start getting ready to vote. As we look forward to May and June, we look forward to supporting people using services to take part in this important process as fully as possible and desired.
As you think about getting ready to vote, or helping someone else get ready to vote, here are a few things to consider today:
- Have you confirmed your voting registration status? Elections Ontario [elections.on.ca] has a place to confirm or update your registration information or register to vote. Confirming your registration now will help to confirm that you should receive a Voter Information Card in the coming weeks.
- Are you planning to vote by mail? Online systems for applying to vote by mail will be available on May 4th. Visit Elections Ontario if you plan to vote by mail. Apply early to confirm your eligibility. Mail-in ballots will be due before May 27th and will need to be received by June 4th to count as a valid vote.
- Are you aware of all your voting options? Elections Ontario has a multi-year Accessibility Plan and has updated accessible voting options for 2022. In addition, people can vote in the upcoming election through a mail-in ballot, through different advanced polling options, or even through scheduled home or hospital votes. Visit elections.on.ca for more details.
In the coming weeks, the Quality Assurance team will continue to post and update resources on CH Connect relevant to voting in the upcoming election. We will also be planning to conduct a Photovoice activity for people using services to share their voting stories with us through pictures and conversations. Keep checking back to CH Connect and stay tuned in the coming weeks for more information.
