New Tools and Resources Page: Housing

 

 

 

 

We are excited to announce that we have launched a new CHconnect page related to Supporting People with their Housing. Some aspects of the page are still being built but there is already some helpful information and resources available. On the “Tools and Resources” page of CHconnect under “Supporting People” you will now find a heading called “Housing”.

 

Housing is a common thread to all the support services that Christian Horizons provides.  Not that Christian Horizons always provides housing, but the people we support always have some connection to housing whether it is being provided to them, they supply their own or are seeking housing. This section of CH connect is to help navigate the unique way housing can play in the life of a person that receives supports.

 

 

You can find information about:

• What the DSO is and what information and resources you can access here in relation to housing.
• Information on insurance in relation to housing.
• A new helpful document that gives some insight into rent subsidies called “Housing Subsidies FAQ”.
• There are a number of sections that are coming soon as well, such as: Independence (how to be a successful tenant), a guide on how to support someone engaging in their own lease, a ‘whose house is it?’ discussion paper, and information about, group living / congregate care, leasing / renting, and affordable housing.

• We are continuing to work on creating and adding helpful documents under this new page. Your input and feedback are always welcome on how we can make this information more accessible to you.
