Dear Ontario Karis Employee,

This month, Fanshawe College is hosting free information sessions where you can learn about their amazing DSW Apprenticeship program. You are encouraged to attend to see if this might be a great professional development opportunity for you.

Developmental Services Worker (DSW) Apprenticeship Program – Learn While You Work

The Developmental Services Worker (DSW) Apprenticeship Program is an option for employees who are already working in a DSW role but do not yet have the formal DSW designation. The program allows participants to continue working while completing the required training and education.

The program has two parts: on-the-job training and part-time academic learning.

Program highlights include:

  • On-the-job training combined with part-time course work
  • 780 hours of academic learning across twenty courses
  • Classes run between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
  • Classes are livestreamed, allowing participation from across the province
  • Course content reflects current approaches to support and practice in developmental services
  • Participants can continue working while completing the program

This program provides a practical way for employees to earn their DSW credential while building on their existing experience.
