Ontario has announced its election day. Ontario will vote on June 2nd. As we approach this important day, here are a few things to keep in mind for yourself and for anyone you are supporting to vote:
Voter Registration: To receive a Voter Information Card in the mail, a person should confirm that they are registered to vote on Elections Ontario by May 23rd.
Vote By Mail Option: To be able to vote by mail, a person must apply to vote by mail by 6:00 PM on May 27th. (Information is also available for this on Elections Ontario’s website).
Other Voting Options: People should think about and plan to vote in the way that makes the most sense for them. People could vote by mail, wait for election day, or vote any time at their local returning office and/or through a special home visit. Visit the Voter Information Service to find out details and information about how to access the various voting options available.
Resources and Information: In the coming weeks, the Quality Assurance team will continue to post and update resources on CH Connect relevant to voting in the upcoming election, including links to various information about party platforms on key issues.
Do you want to advocate for the developmental disabilities sector this election? Check out these materials that we have prepared for you to bring to your local candidates to ask about how they’re supporting the “Journey to Belonging” for people with developmental disabilities.
Photo Voice Opportunity: We will be hosting a Photo Voice project and discussion group to hear about the experiences of people who use the services of Christian Horizons in voting or in how they have participated (or not) in the Ontario election. A Photo Voice project invites people to take pictures of their experiences and then to come together and talk about their pictures and share their stories. More details and a formal invitation will be sent out in the coming weeks.
Please help us help people in future elections by participating in this survey. For more information on participating or asking a question, email quality@christian-horizons.org.
