One Employer COVID-19 Leaves of Absence
We are excited that on August 23, 2021, the Congregate Care Settings Regulation 117/20 was amended allowing fully vaccinated direct support professionals to work for more than one developmental service agency. We know that you are eager to see your colleagues who are on a One Employer COVID-19 Leave of Absence return to Christian Horizons. Over the coming weeks, human resources will connect with employees working for another developmental service agency, welcoming those who are fully vaccinated, back to work after September 23, 2021.
Vaccination Policy Update
As mentioned in Eugene Versteeg, Senior Vice President’s memo on August 30, 2021, we have received more information about vaccine status expectations within developmental services. Starting on September 23, 2021, in order to continue to actively work, you will be required to:
- Provide proof of vaccination, or
- Provide specific medical documentation why you cannot receive the vaccine at this time, or
- Undergo education to understand the value of the vaccine.
Further to this, we received detail this week from the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) that we will be required to ensure that employees who have not disclosed they are fully vaccinated, undertake weekly rapid antigen screening.

Your supervisor has been equipped with a separate link to support you if you have difficulty uploading your vaccine record.
Last fall, the Human Resources department launched a new, secure system for employees requesting Employment Letters.
There are several types of letters you can request:
- Letter of employment with salary information for a bank loan, etc.
- Letter of employment without salary information to use as a reference/employment verification
- Letter of employment for immigration purposes
- Other (please specify your request)
You can complete your request with the online fillable form found on CHconnect. Within two business days, your completed letter will be sent to your Christian Horizons email address.
