Thank you so much for everything you are doing supporting each other and the people who use our services. Given the sickness and outbreaks that we are experiencing, we are incredibly grateful that you are also making it a priority to help people receive their third vaccine. We are tracking this very important information to be able to report the total numbers (not names) to MCCSS (ON) and MSS (SK).

Please help us track these vaccine statistics for the people who use our services! Simply email a picture of a person’s vaccine receipt to vaccines@christian-horizons.org (from your Christian Horizons email account) and we will upload it into their personal record in the ODB.

Yesterday I was able to get my 3rd dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. I received a news alert that there was no line up at a vaccination clinic in my neighbourhood, so I was one of the hundreds of people who responded right away. Within Christian Horizons and the sector, we’re working to host vaccine clinics to help you and the people who use our services access the vaccine as quickly as possible. At the same time, please be looking in your own neighbourhoods. Along with keeping physical distance, masking, and disinfecting, we know that being vaccinated helps reduce the impact of COVID-19.

Christian Horizons Global Update

Last week, I received the Annual Progress Report for someone I support through sponsorship with Christian Horizons Global. In fact, it’s someone that a group of us share in supporting. He lives in Robe (pronounced, ‘ro-bay’), Ethiopia. He’s blind. I met him once. Reading his report reminded me of the essential support we provide around the world as well as here in Canada, and how in Ethiopia, only a small percentage of people have access to any of the COVID-19 vaccines, and people with disabilities are marginalized even more. While our help doesn’t give him access to a vaccine, it does help him have access to health and nutritional care, accessibility support (in his case, Braille supplies), and connection to a community where he belongs.

Often, in times of difficulty, it helps to turn our eyes toward someone else and offer a hand in help. If you want to join me in supporting someone within the community of CH Global, here’s the link.

Be safe!

Vice President of Operations
