As part of Christian Horizons’ ongoing efforts to improve our organization’s cybersecurity, the Digital, Technology, and Innovation Cyber Security Team has introduced two important initiatives: Cyber Security Awareness Training and Simulated Phishing.
In today’s digital world, cybercriminals are constantly coming up with new threats, so it’s essential for us to be vigilant and well-informed. The Cyber Security Awareness Training program aims to equip all employees with the knowledge and skills needed to identify and handle cyber threats effectively. By enhancing our overall cyber security awareness, we can create a safer work environment and protect sensitive information.
So far, we have issued three courses to all staff: Introduction to Cyber Security, Phishing Awareness, and Ransomware Awareness. These courses have taught staff how to recognize and deal with phishing emails. Next week, we’ll release the Password Awareness course, which will also provide valuable advice for protecting both Christian Horizons and you personally on social media and online banking.
I encourage everyone to actively participate in this training program and take advantage of the opportunity to enhance your cyber security knowledge and skills. More courses will be available in the Fall. Remember, cyber security is a collective responsibility, and each one of us plays a vital role in protecting our organization.
In June, we conducted three simulated phishing exercises, sending emails about Google Workplace, PayPal, and Surplus Computer for Free. Simulated phishing is like a practice test for cybersecurity. It helps us learn how to spot fake and harmful emails, so we don’t fall for real phishing attacks. These regular tests also help us assess the strength of our defenses and identify areas for improvement. With cyberattacks becoming more common, simulated phishing is a crucial tool to keep our data and important information safe. It’s like training a team to be ready for the game and defend against bad players. In the coming months, we’ll have more simulated phishing exercises.
Thank you for your attention and cooperation in this matter. If you have any questions or need more information, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the DTI department. Let’s all stay cyber safe!
Kind regards,
Bert VandeKuyt
