April 14, 2022

This week we celebrate Easter, an important day in the Christian Calendar. The promise of resurrection is central to our faith, giving us hope for life here and life beyond.

For the first time in decades, many cultural and religious groups are celebrating occasions that are central to them this month – along with Easter (which is this week for many but next week for others, like our partners in Ethiopia), there’s Ramadan, Passover, Baisakhi, Mahavir Jayanti, Theraveda New Year, and the Gathering of Nations. It reminds me that all of us are connected in some way. Whether you celebrate any of these days, I hope that this weekend allows an opportunity for something special for you.

At the same time, our COVID-19 cases are rapidly increasing. While staffing levels are challenging, I’m grateful that within Christian Horizons no one is severely ill. I’m hopeful that it stays that way. And I’m praying that we get through this wave soon.

Here are this week’s statistics.

Christian Horizons Global Update

This week, we met with our Haiti team as they prepare to compile the Child Sponsorship’s Annual Progress Reports to be sent to the sponsors this summer. COVID-19 and security issues have forced our team to meet with many of the children remotely for these interviews. This means that we will need to rely on cell phone photos for many of the children. Despite these challenges, the families express their gratitude for the support that allows their children to attend school and meet urgent needs. Thanks to those of you who support.

Be safe!
