Any interaction between people can potentially involve conflict. If the situation is not addressed, it can escalate, impacting both employees and people using our services. As noted in the Reference Manual regarding the Conflict Resolution Process, Christian Horizons promotes and supports a work environment characterized by the display of mutual respect, trust, value, and dignity. When contention arises between employees, Christian Horizons strongly encourages employees to speak with one another about their concerns. If needed, employees should seek to involve their supervisor to assist them in resolving their concerns. Over the past several months, supervisors have attended conflict management workshops delivered by an external consulting firm, Credence & Co. We are pleased to announce that Credence & Co videos are now available on CH Connect, which review the concepts and skills covered in the main workshop.

Where are the videos?  The videos are at this link (requires VPN). Or go to Tools and Resources, LEADING TEAMS & EMPLOYEES, Conflict Resolution. There are 13 topics, and each topic is divided into smaller sections for quick reference. The total time to view all the videos is approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes. Also, 6 of the 13 videos posted have replaced older videos in the new hire orientation process, on topics including Intent-Action-Effect, Positions to Interests, Emotional Triangles, Conflict Continuum, Conflict Escalation, and Conflict Cycle.

How can the videos help me? Conflict situations can be upsetting and feel difficult to resolve. The models and tools presented in the videos can be very helpful in understanding and addressing conflict situations.

What if I need more support? It’s important to address a conflict situation promptly. Your supervisor is a great resource, and they in turn, can call on others within Christian Horizons for support. The Conflict Resolution page (requires VPN) has further resources. Working through a conflict situation can result in better working relationships and a better environment for employees and people using our services.
