Community Participation Supports at Karis help connect people with disabilities to their communities. These supports can help somebody develop and discover their skills and talents, attend events and activities, or find work and volunteer opportunities.
Our operating plan for the current fiscal year includes growing our Community Participation Supports in Canada, with Karis becoming a preferred service provider. In Ontario, the waitlist for services is over 52,000 people and we know that 34,000 of these people are looking for Community Participation Supports.
What’s Changing?
To support this growth, we’re standardizing how we talk about our Community Participation Support services across all locations. We’ll be transitioning all service location names to follow a clear, recognizable format:
Karis [Location] Community Participation Supports
For example: Karis Toronto Community Participation Supports. This shift makes it easier for people to understand what we offer and where, helping us strengthen our brand and broaden our reach, making Karis an option for the 34,000 people looking for these services.
We’re also launching local landing pages on the Karis website, giving each community a dedicated space to showcase the supports that are available. These dedicated pages should make it easier for people searching for services to find them in their local community. You can explore these new pages here: https://karis.org/community.
Why It Matters
These changes are about more than names and websites. They reflect our commitment to expanding access, building consistency, and helping more people benefit from the inclusive, community-connected supports Karis is known for.
