Core Competencies for Everyday

For a long time, I viewed our Developmental Services Core Competencies mostly as a ladder—tools useful for passing an interview or seeking a promotion. I treated them as something you use only when you are trying to move up.
However, a recent workshop at the Leader’s Conference shifted my perspective. I realized these competencies aren’t just about moving up; they are about how we show up every day. They are the foundation of how we support people, work with colleagues, and connect with our broader community.
In this reflection, I share how my team in Waterloo has been focusing on one competency at a time.
