What are you celebrating?
“What are you celebrating this year?” It’s not a question we usually ask, especially not in December when the celebrations seem so obvious. Lit-up trees glow in windows; carols play on the radio, and families and friends make plans for Christmas.
In December, we also celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD). Started by the United Nations, it raises awareness about disability issues by advocating for the rights, dignity, and well-being of people with disabilities. This day is important for our organization. On or around December 3, many communities will gather for camaraderie, food, music, crafts, and stories to honour this day and to celebrate the contributions of people with disabilities around the world.

Prayer Guide
This Advent, we invite you to pause each day to reflect, pray, and celebrate where God’s grace is meeting you on your own journey.
Throughout Advent, we’ll share weekly Scripture readings on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, reflections on the Disability & Faith Forum, and our daily Advent Prayer Guide. Each resource is designed to help us slow down and pay attention to what God is doing around us and within us—an invitation to celebrate His presence in both the ordinary and the extraordinary moments of our days.
On December 19, 2025 at 1:30 PM, you’re invited to join us for our Karis Advent Service. This service is for everybody and will be available online so that all homes, teams, and communities can join together as we celebrate the hope, peace, joy, and love of this season.
On Sunday, we begin Advent, with the theme of Hope. This week, take time to notice where you’ve seen hope in the people you support or work with. It could be seen in someone’s resilience, their sense of humour, their honesty, or the way they show up each day. Bring one of those moments to your next team conversation.
