As part of this year’s strategic objectives, we will be replacing CHConnect with a modern, secure, and user-friendly Intranet (staff portal). This initiative focuses on enhancing engagement and belonging across the organization by improving how employees access information, tools, and resources across Karis. A key driver for this project is the need to move CHConnect from its current platform, which will soon be outdated. This also gives us an opportunity to make additional improvements and create a better employee experience by incorporating feedback from staff surveys and consultations with leaders across the organization. We are also pleased to share that building the new platform will come at no additional cost to Karis. The site will be built using SharePoint Online, which is already included in our existing Microsoft 365 subscription.
What We Have Heard from Leaders and Staff
Some common challenges that have been highlighted include outdated content, duplicate resources, inconsistent page ownership, and search feature not working as intended. In response to these challenges, we have been working on building a brand-new site in partnership with various departments. A sneak preview of the site was provided to roles across the organization, and they showed overwhelming support for the new version.
Expected Benefits of a New Karis Intranet
The new site offers various improvements as highlighted below.
- Improved look and feel
- Clearer content organization
- Streamlined navigation menu
- Advanced search
- Centralized access to news and events at Karis
- Analytics for departments and other content creators to see page engagement metrics such as number of visitors, time spent by visitors on a page, etc.
Next Steps
The new Karis Intranet is tentatively scheduled to launch in late August 2026. Over the coming months, we will continue building and refining the new intranet. As development progresses, we’ll be sharing regular updates, sneak peeks, and feature highlights – giving employees an early look at the new experience.
Throughout July, we’ll be sharing a series of previews in On the Horizon to give you a glimpse of what’s on the way.
Each week, we’ll highlight a different feature with screenshots and a brief look at how the new intranet will help make finding information, connecting with colleagues, and staying informed easier.
Stay tuned for the first look!
