How Can I Help Advocate Today?
Two weeks ago you received a Dear Everybody in Ontario email from our CEO, Janet Noel-Annable, sharing your opportunity to help us advocate for more funding for our sector, including for Karis Disability Services. Here is a link to the letter.
There is still time to stand with those we support by adding your name to the letter we are writing to our funder. Just click on this link or scan the QR code below to add your support TODAY because tomorrow, December 18, this list of names will be presented in person to our funding partners.
Over 600 people have added their names already with 73% being employees – thank you!
Please continue to promote this letter with people using our services and their families today as their voice is very important.
How Can I Respond to Questions About Our Advocacy Approach?
While partners in our sector are advocating with a ‘Demand 5%’ campaign online, we have chosen to join our support by clearly expressing the financial urgency and funding needs directly with our funders in person. Last week we connected with MCCSS Minister Parsa and Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy at a funding announcement for repairs within the Central East District. Next week, Janet along with two VPs, Eugene and Irene, will be meeting with Minister Parsa. We will also be submitting a pre-budget funding need to the Ministry of Finance, alongside our sector partners.
We are being crystal clear with the needs outlined in the Dear Everybody in Ontario letter with those IN THE SECTOR (partners, community tables, funders, employees, people supported, families). When asked what we are doing by other PUBLIC AUDIENCES (churches, neighbours, community members, etc), language you can use is this:
At Karis Disability Services, we share the urgent need for more funding. We continue to actively advocate with our funders and stand with people and families that need and deserve our services so they can contribute their gifts and live their best lives.
