The Government of Ontario has amended the Employment Standards Act to ensure all employees in the province have access to three paid absences for specific COVID-19 related reasons, as of April 19, 2021.
The legislation required us to look at each employee’s bank on April 19 and anyone with less than 3 PEL days left on that date will have access to some Government days if they are in need of a COVID-19 related absence between April 19 and September 25, 2021.
Supervisors are required to understand which category of COVID-19 absence is being used in order to plot a new shift tile in QHR, which Christian Horizons will use for reimbursement of any Government days used.
