In recent weeks, the MCCSS in Ontario has increased its focus on the importance of Bathing and Showering protocols outlining the level of supervision and the supports for people living in Supported Group Living (SGL) and Intensive Support Residences (ISR).
Moving forward, when the MCCSS conducts regulatory compliance inspections, non-compliances to bathing/supervision protocols will be considered an Immediate risk level non-compliance, requiring immediate correction (with confirmation within 24 hours).
Using feedback received from the MCCSS in inspections across Ontario, and with feedback and support from districts, the Quality, Research and Practice Initiatives (QRPI) department has implemented two new Forms to document bathing protocols and has added them to CH Connect under Personal Care, which can be found here.
Along with these two forms, used to document Bathing / Showering protocols requiring No Supervision, and Partial/Full Supervision), this site includes additional tools and information related to documenting Bathing / Showering protocols to meet MCCSS requirements. (These Forms, tools and information are also a good resource for supporting people through Group Homes in Saskatchewan.)
Districts will now be working toward updating current tools and resources to these Forms. For more information, please contact your district’s Systems Manager(s). If you have any questions or need support with these Forms, feel free to reach out to our Quality Assurance team.
