The Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) has announced that Compliance Inspections will take place at Christian Horizons locations across Ontario from September 19th through October 7th, 2022. These are the first inspections to be completed at Christian Horizons since the removal of temporary measures put in place to limit MCCSS reporting and compliance requirements during the COVID-19 pandemic. This will also be the first province-wide Compliance Inspection since MCCSS changed several requirements in 2021. These changes included moving Bathing and Showering Supervision from a “High” to an “Immediate” risk rating and adding elevated risk ratings and requirements for non-compliances considered to be recurring by the Ministry.

While we have been given notice of our inspection, specific locations being visited will not be known until after the opening meeting to be held on September 19th. After that meeting, Ministry Compliance Inspectors will work with each district’s Executive Director and Systems Managers to establish a plan for the compliance inspection, which will include a review of documentation and an onsite review of selected service locations.

If teams would like to confirm their documentation in advance of these MCCSS Compliance inspections, Program Assessment tools are available to conduct self-assessments and can be found here (VPN access required). In addition, information on past Christian Horizons’ Compliance Trends can be found here (VPN access required).

If you have any questions leading up to or during compliance inspections, please contact your district Systems Manager(s) or Justin Radstake, Manager of Quality Assurance.
