Monday is Election Day in Canada!

Click here to visit the Tools and Resources webpage on CH Connect

On Monday, September 20th, 2021, Canada will once again decide on its next government. Last week we shared that there are tools and resources available on CH Connect here. This information includes, for example:

  • Links to how to register to vote, and how to know whether you are registered to vote
  • Information about advanced voting and special ballot (including registering to vote by mail)
  • Links to finding more information about local candidates
  • Links to job opportunities with Elections Canada
  • Links to resources to help people learn and experience the voting process
  • Links to online articles and resources summarizing Party Platforms
  • A resource developed by the Voting Matters working group to help support a person to participate in the election process

If you have any questions about tools and resources found on CH Connect, please feel free to email Justin at jradstake@christian-horizons.org.

Advanced voting options are no longer available. You may vote at your polling station on Monday as indicated on your Voter’s Information card. If you previously were approved for alternative voting options, make sure your vote has been mailed or dropped off at an Elections Canada site by Monday, September 20th!

A Photovoice Research Opportunity

We are currently developing a plan to conduct a Photovoice Research project to bring together people who participated in the election (or not), and to learn about their experiences through pictures they take and the stories they share. More information about this will be shared in future On the Horizon articles. However, if someone you know who is using services of Christian Horizons may be interested in participating in this opportunity:

  • Feel free to reach out to jradstake@christian-horizons.org for any questions, or to express interest.
  • Have people take pictures of their election experiences (note – it is illegal to take pictures while inside a polling station).

We look forward to sharing even more information about this opportunity in the coming weeks.
