June 10, 2021
It’s a relief to see the rates of COVID-19 decline across Canada. And I’m excited to see the continued availability and uptake of the vaccines and vaccination efforts. As the vaccine count goes up, COVID-19 cases are going down.
Last week, Eugene Versteeg shared with me the results of recent studies from the scientific community about the effectiveness of each dose of the vaccine. This study included people who received each type of the vaccine (Pfizer, Moderna, and AstraZeneca). I’ve included the slide here, and it shows that the effectiveness increases as time passes after each dose. Next week, I’m scheduled to get my second shot. According to this study, I’ll be well-protected against COVID-19 before the end of June.
As of yesterday, Christian Horizons has one (1) person who uses our services and four (4) employees, who are currently positive for COVID-19 in three (3) Ontario communities and one (1) Saskatchewan community.

Please note, I’ve removed the “Canada” statistics in the chart below.
Christian Horizons Global
Globally, we continue to experience highs and lows. This week, we share the sad news that El Moro, the community in Guatemala is closed off due to the rise in COVID-19 cases. At the same time, we celebrate the opening of a new preschool program in the community of San Benito in Nicaragua. Please keep our international coworkers in your prayers.
Stay Safe!
