Transition From Skype to Microsoft Teams

Microsoft will be retiring Skype for Business in July this year after which it will not be accessible. Skype for Business is an app that is part of the Microsoft Office 365 suite of applications. Since its introduction, Skype for Business has been a valuable tool for millions of people around the world. By combining instant messaging, calling, and video into one application, Skype for Business established new possibilities for business communications. Microsoft Teams is the next chapter in that vision.

The capabilities of Microsoft Teams go beyond those of Skype for Business. By combining chat, video, audio calling, document collaboration, and application integration into a single experience, Teams enables entirely new way of working. And ongoing platform innovation and development means Teams users benefit from richer performance, functionality, flexibility, and security.

At Christian Horizons, we are planning to retire Skype for Business on May 31, 2021 after which it will no longer be available for use. Microsoft Teams will serve as the substitute for Skype for Business and all employees using Skype for Business are expected to transition to using Microsoft Teams before May 31. Please read the attached guide to help you transition to Microsoft Teams, if you have not already done so.

If you do not have the Teams app installed on your computer, you can submit a help desk ticket to get it installed. You can also use the Teams app in an internet browser by signing into your office 365 account at Office.com and clicking on the Teams icon.
