Last week, I saw a Facebook post from a friend in Israel who was out for her birthday dinner with family. She was ‘out’ … for dinner… at a restaurant … in public. I’m looking forward to when most of us in Canada have received the vaccination so that we’ll also see some of the restrictions relaxed.
After last week’s article, someone emailed me to suggest we add statistics around vaccine rollout within Christian Horizons. That was a great idea! Below, you’ll see the statistics (based on what we know) of how many people have received the vaccine within Christian Horizons, alongside the COVID-19 statistics. Also, here’s a link to see the Canada-wide statistics.
As of yesterday, Christian Horizons has six (6) people using services and nine (9) employees who are currently positive for COVID-19 in five (5) Ontario communities. We have no active cases in Saskatchewan.

We are sad to report that we have the first confirmed COVID-19 cases in one of our service locations internationally. We learned last week that the school in El Moro, Guatemala where we sponsor 100 children had four teachers who tested positive. Two of the teachers have since been hospitalized. This is a remote community where the virus is likely to spread quickly.
Please pray for a speedy recovery for the teachers and that the virus be contained. On a positive note, Guatemala has just received their first Israel-donated vaccines but at this point only 66,000 doses have been given in a country of 17 million. It is in time like these that we are reminded that the world is not out of the woods yet and that we are to be thankful for the vaccines that we have in Canada.

I want to hear from you! It’s reasonable to think we’ll see shots in arms for the majority of Canadian adults sometime this year. What are you most looking forward to once restrictions begin to lift and it’s safe to be out and about again? Me? I’m looking forward to all the family getting together again for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I’m also looking forward to going to see a movie! Please, fill my inbox with ideas of what you’re looking forward to.
Stay safe!
