Happy Canada Day! I’m sure that your Canada Day celebrations were different than you expected. Sixteen weeks ago, when the pandemic response started in Canada, you might have thought things would have ‘returned to normal’ by now. Our days might not be what we expected, but I’m grateful for the continued flattening of the curve in Canada and am praying it persists.
As of yesterday, there is one (1) person supported and two (2) employees who are currently positive for COVID-19 across two (2) Christian Horizons communities in Ontario. We have no active cases in Saskatchewan.

Christian Horizons Global
This week we shared a video report on our pandemic support in the countries where we serve with the Christian Horizons Board as an update. Please click here to watch a short video report from Rudy and Sully and Meseret Wogayehu, Directors from Guatemala and Ethiopia respectively.
Statistics Canada
Statistics Canada is asking about the challenges of living with a long-term condition or disability during the COVID-19 pandemic, and how that has impacted employment, household expenses, and access to health services. Please consider completing the questionnaire and assisting the people you support to complete it. Please click here to complete it. Remember, this is a StatsCan survey, not Christian Horizons, and all information collected is confidential, and protected under the Statistics Act.
Our Voice Matters
There are two updates from the Our Voice Matters Advocacy Group. First, Dzidra Halar and Casey Reilly from Toronto prepared a video to encourage people to participate in Surveillance Testing. Please click here to see the video, and please share it with the people you support.
Next, here is a message they’re sharing along with other advocacy groups in Christian Horizons, inviting people to participate in a survey created by the Canadian Human Rights Commission. The survey is to find out how the rights of people with disabilities are being respected. Please click here for the survey.
Thank you for continuing to wear your mask, keep a safe distance, and wash your hands a lot. Please continue to check out the resources at https://covid19.chconnect.org/. As always, I’m available at dmilley@christian-horizons.org if you wish to contact me.
Stay safe,
Dwayne Milley
Vice President of Operations
