This week marks five months since the pandemic began. I’m encouraged with the progress we are making in communities across Canada, both within and outside of Christian Horizons, to keep the spread to a minimum. While the daily cases in Saskatchewan are a little higher recently, overall, Canadians are doing very well in this fight.

As of yesterday, we have no report of COVID-19 cases within Christian Horizons communities in both Ontario and Saskatchewan.

Christian Horizons Global

As the pandemic continues to cause disruption in the countries where we work around the world, we continue to support our teams to provide emergency nutrition in vulnerable communities. This week we were glad to send funds to our partner in Uganda to support people facing hunger – this group includes single parents, people in prison and many people with disabilities. Thanks to our donors for making this possible.

In Memoriam

In the last few days, three people who used the services of Christian Horizons passed away suddenly (not due to COVID-19). Christine, Bruce, and Joanne will be greatly missed for many reasons – their unique personalities, laughter, love for music, dance moves, sense of humour, and artistic abilities. Heaven is better because of their presence, and we’re sadder. Grieving is difficult these days because we can’t come together to comfort each other. Let’s help by keeping their families, friends, and team members in our thoughts during this time of sorrow.

Thank you once again for your continued diligence. Please remember to wear your mask, wash your hands, and keep a safe distance. I encourage you to continue to check out the resources page at https://covid19.chconnect.org/.
