I don’t know about you, but I’m sick of COVID-19. Even as I hope that it’s over, the slow increase of positive cases across Canada indicates that it’s not over yet. Last week we learned about the new guidelines for family visits and community activities. This week and next week our schools are re-opening. With these activities, it is becoming more challenging for people to limit the number of contacts they have and in doing so, help to limit the spread. With that said, as of yesterday, we have no report of COVID-19 cases within Christian Horizons communities in both Ontario and Saskatchewan. Christian Horizons Statistics (Running totals since March 19, 2020) Provincial and National Statistics (Beyond Christian Horizons) Christian Horizons Global Hurricane Nana went through Guatemala this week and we’re glad that there have not been any reports of much damage in the areas where we work. We will keep all our teams in that area in our prayers as hurricane season continues. Just as here in Canada, September marks the start for the school year in Haiti and Ethiopia. Our teams are taking a slow approach and following government advice as they register students and hope to have schools open in the coming weeks. In Haiti, some schools have opened at half capacity. Also, this week is the Ethiopian New Year. We wish them a joyous opening to 2013 in the Ethiopian calendar. Thank You! I’m extremely grateful for the diligence that you have practiced in these past six months to help keep yourselves and the people you support safely. In addition to limiting the amount of contact, we know that frequent hand washing, wearing masks, and keeping a distance all help to limit the spread. And even though it’s been six months, we’re not yet at the end. Don’t forget to check out the resources page at https://covid19.chconnect.org/.
