The Retirement Saving Committee is a committee that includes Employee Engagement Representatives. They meet to review retirement benefits on behalf of employees. The committee meets with the vendor Canada Life, alongside members of the HR team. A recent review has led to a new investment option added to the many options that are already available in the retirement savings portfolio. Every employee with a retirement plan (RRSP or RPP) has the option to select their own investments.
We believe all employees should be able to benefit from their registered group retirement and savings plan. Now there’s a way for more employees to participate in the growth potential of global equity investments.
New investment option – Islamic Global Equity Index (BlackRock) – IGEIB
The BlackRock Islamic Global Equity Index Fund is for plan members who want to invest in a way that:
- Aligns with Islamic religious beliefs that consider Shariah investment principles
- Supports their long-term savings goals with the growth potential of global equity investments
- Allows them to participate in their group retirement and savings plan
Other fund options that are available to employees are:
- Canadian Balanced Funds
- Canadian Equity Funds
- Fixed Income Funds
- Foreign Equity Funds
- And many other options to explore
Please be aware that you’re responsible for choosing your investment options. You should read this note carefully to ensure you’re appropriately invested to meet your long-term savings goals.
Canada Life does not charge fees for you to change your investment options, redirect future contributions and/or maturity instructions.
